A one-day workshop on climate change in Ethiopia, organized by the Climate Change Forum-Ethiopia (CCF-E) and the Consultative Group on International Agriculture Research, was held at the Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, campus of International Livestock Research Institute (ILRI), yesterday (8 March 2011).
At this workshop, the Ethiopian partners of a CGIAR research program called Climate Change, Agriculture and Food Security (CCAFS) assessed where Ethiopia stands in national climate change work and began work to create a platform to share case scenarios on climate change adaptation, pro-poor mitigation and climate risk assessment and management in Ethiopia.
Research papers prepared by CCAFS, CCF-E, the Environmental Protection Authority, the Ethiopian Ministry of Agriculture and the Ethiopian Institute of Agriculture Research were presented and discussed.
The workshop was attended by representatives from the non-governmental organization Save the Children, the United Nations Development Program, the United States Agency for International Development, the World Bank and other stakeholders in Ethiopia’s development.
